By statute, the Advisory Committee is an 11-member committee of six industry representatives and five academic representatives, appointed by the Chair of the THECB. The committee currently meets four times a year and advises the THECB in matters of the TWD Grants Program.Inaugural chair (January 2001 - April 2004) was Mr. Torrence Robinson, Director of Public Affairs, Texas Instruments. Second chair (May 2004 - May 2005) was Mr. Tom Dickey, Director of Operations & Austin Site Manager, Intel Corporation, followed from June to December 2006 by Mr. Ray Almgren, Vice President for Product Marketing and Academic Relations, National Instruments. Ms. Judy Shaw, Process Engineering Manager, Texas Instruments, was chair from January 2006 through May 2007. Current chair is Mr. Larry Stephens, Director of Systems Engineering, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
